The Institute of Biological Engineering (IBE) was established to encourage inquiry and interest in biological engineering.

The 21st century presents global challenges in the environment, resources, energy, health, and sustainability. The Institute of Biological Engineering supports the community of scientists and engineers that are addressing these problems through biological systems analysis and design. We do this through enhancing and promoting biological engineering in the broadest manner through research, education, and professional development.

The emerging discipline of biological engineering lies at the interfaces of biological sciences, engineering sciences, mathematics and computational sciences. It applies biological systems to enhance of the quality and diversity of life.

IBE Council Member and 2010 Conference Chair Named Associate Professor

We are pleased to announce Jeong-Yeol Yoon has been  promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure at the University of Arizona effective July 1, 2010.

For those of you who know Jeong-Yeol very well this should not be any surprise.  Dr. Yoon has been working on the development of biological sensors and devices and has been teaching courses in sensors and controls and biomaterials for the past six years and has been very productive.

IBE Partners with the Korean Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering

IBE is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Korean Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering (KSBB). The two organizations officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the IBE 2010 Annual Conference. The MOU includes opportunities for both organizations to enhance member benefits and to globally promote biological engineering. The KSBB Annual Conference is scheduled for October 7-9, 2010 in Songdo Conventia, Incheon which is a newly developing city built on top of the sea (modelled after Dubai.
